WHO WE ARE

The Center for Sustainable Conflict Resolution (CSCR) was formed by Muslim professionals and Muslim leaders and registered in Kenya as a Non-governmental, non-profit-making organization. CSCR aims to promote peace by seeking sustainable conflict mechanisms in all kinds of conflicts. Part of this is Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Terrorism, counter messaging, countering the ideologies of VEOs through the media, including social media, community dialogues and training. The objective of the Organization shall be contributing to the realization of peace in Kenya and beyond through sustainable conflict resolution and peace building best practices. The organization shall support initiatives of other organizations working for peace in Kenya, and will facilitate dialogue, conflict resolution and peace building.

CSCR Objectives

  1. Develop and implement a set of ideological push-back actions on physical and virtual platforms to reclaim, take charge of, and control advantages of information asymmetries from violent extremist groups.
  2. Revitalize, re-invigorate and empower Muslim and Islamic institutions, platforms to better and more effectively respond to increasing violent extremism.
  3. Engage the religious-others, opinion and other leaders to correct misconceptions, deflect the narrative-flow, and reactive effect from aggrieved religious-other targeted by violent extremists.
  4. Engender and deepen stakeholder-ship to the country by increasing cohesion and the sense of belonging in Kenya as a way of countering external forces and influences of radicalization into violent extremism.

CSCR Values

  1. Sustainability– For sustainable peace to flourish, humans must strive to be conscious of the impact of their actions and strive towards sustainability. This includes impact on the environment, on other people, on societies and on cultures. This also means that our peacebuilding efforts should be sensitive and adapted to the context we work with, and that the principle of doing no harm is taken into account in all our activities.
  2. Diversity and Solidarity– CSCR embraces diversity, appreciates the richness in our differences, and believes in the importance of equality and inclusion of all faiths and other marginalized groups in peacebuilding process. CSCR believes in the power of solidarity, sharing successes and challenges, and working together as a community of locally-grounded leaders.
  3. Nonviolence-CSCR opposes all forms of violence including physical, direct, social, cultural, environmental and structural violence. Violence impedes people from reaching their full potential. Violence is counterproductive in the transformation of conflict.
  4. Conflict transformation-CSCR understands that conflict are a natural fact of human societies and can be opportunities for change.
